7:00 pm

A Special “Back to School” Event: School Surveillance & “Mental Health” Screening of Children and Youth: Weak Science, High Risks, Hidden Harms

With Rob Wipond, Victoria-based investigative journalist and news editor for Mad In America and Micheal Vonn, Policy Director of the BC Civil Liberties Association.

The provincial government and BC Medical Association/Doctors of BC are promoting mental health screening of all children and youth, and more mental health monitoring in schools. What did your family physician learn at their new training program, how will school approaches be changing, and what could it mean for you and your family?

The BCCLA’s Micheal Vonn will speak about data collection and surveillance and Rob Wipond will review the science and politics of child and youth mental health in British Columbia.
