Press Conference on Border Identification and ID Policy

Vancouver – The B.C. Civil Liberties Association, in association with the London School of Economics and the American Civil Liberties Union will hold a press conference Friday, December 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. to comment on the challenges for Canadian identity policy and new border-crossing requirements.

With growing concerns regarding border management, terrorism, illegal immigration and travel security, governments are increasingly looking to new technologies and identification techniques.

Prior to a research workshop that brings together government, industry, academics and non-governmental organizations, representatives from Canada, the UK and the US will comment on the economic and cultural repercussions of changing ID policies.
