BCCLA Executive Director receives prestigious human rights award

David Eby, the Executive Director of the BCCLA, has been awarded the Renate Shearer award by the B.C. Human Rights Coalition and the United Nations Association in Canada. The award recognizes exceptional contributions to the field of human rights domestically and internationally.

“It is a great privilege to be selected for this award, named for someone who made such a contribution to advancing the interests of communities marginalized by law and circumstance,” said Eby. “I am thrilled to be selected by these prominent and distinguished groups for this remarkable honour.”

Eby will be receiving the award at a special ceremony at Vancouver Community College (Downtown Campus on Pender), third floor. Please RSVP to [email protected]. He will be presenting on a human rights topic, and admission is by donation. The event is open to the public.

“I would like to thank the UN Association in Canada and the B.C. Human Rights Coalition for their hard work in laying the groundwork that makes it possible for my work to happen,” said Eby. “I’m extremely grateful for their efforts and incredibly honoured by their recognition.” MEDIA
