2022 Annual General Meeting

The BCCLA’s 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an opportunity to hear highlights of the Association’s work over the past year and our key priorities into the months ahead. We will also conduct AGM business and announce our new Board members. The evening will be followed by a virtual panel Systems of Criminalization led by BCCLA lawyers.

When: Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 5:45 pm – 7:00 pm PST/8:45 pm – 10 pm EST

Followed by Systems of Criminalization panel from 7:00pm – 8:30pm PST/10 pm – 11:30 pm EST

Where: Virtually via Zoom. Details will be provided after registration. All members will receive an RSVP link by email or mail.

Membership

Please note that this year’s AGM is only open to members, and all members are welcome. Only members in good standing who joined before March 15, 2022 will be able to vote in the business portion of the meeting.

Board of Directors Candidates Acclaimed

The BCCLA accepted 4 nominations for 6 available seats. As a result, our board candidates will be elected directors by acclamation as of the AGM. Congratulations to the following candidates:

  • Wassim Garzouzi
  • Kevin Millsip (incumbent)
  • Anisa White

Bylaw Amendments Presented to the Members for Approval

During this year’s AGM, we will present Bylaw Amendments to the members for approval.

SPECIAL RESOLUTION: Revisions to sections 7.4 of the Bylaws of the Society be decided by special resolution to be approved by the membership as follows:

PROPOSED BYLAW CHANGES

7.4 Composition of Board:

The Board will be composed of a minimum of fifteen (15) eleven (11) and a maximum of twenty four (24) fifteen (15) Directors, such the exact number to be determined by Board Resolution from time to time, each of whom will be elected or appointed in accordance with these Bylaws.
