Youth Rights & Resistance
BCCLA’s Annual Youth Conference brings together high school students from across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland to engage with emerging civil liberties and human rights issues.
Civil liberties and human rights are under attack. BCCLA wants youth to feel equipped with the skills and knowledge to defend and protect their rights now and into the future.
Through the youth conference we teach students about issues affecting their community, develop a deeper understanding of their rights, and gain valuable tools for them to fight for social justice, civil liberties, and human rights.
This year was BCCLA’s 20th year hosting the Youth Conference, with the theme centering around Youth Rights and Resistance.
This year the Youth Conference hosted 8 workshops. We are grateful to the workshop presenters from the BC General Employees’ Union, Teachers for Palestine, West Coast LEAF, Vancouver Tenants Union, Rainbow Refugee, and the Griffins’ Nest for sharing their knowledge, stories and insights with us.
