Open Letter RE: Canadian Heritage (PCH) use of Controversial Antisemitism Definition

An open letter to the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion regarding the use of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance Working Definition of Antisemitism (IHRA WDA). BCCLA signed onto this open letter as part of a collective of organizations and individuals committed to both anti-racism and freedom of expression–amongst us recipients of Canadian Heritage grants. The signatories are deeply concerned by recent statements indicating the department’s possible use of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance Working Definition of Antisemitism (IHRA WDA) for the purposes of attestation and vetting of Canadian Heritage applicants/grantees, as well as training of departmental officers.
