The CDI project is intended to be a common repository (storage site) for all diagnostic imaging reports and images (such as MRIs, or CT-scans) done anywhere in the province. It will be accessible to authorized users from anywhere in the province. It will be interoperable with other parts of the EHR system to form a comprehensive part of each individual’s personal Electronic Health Record. Diagnostic images and information that is currently in another system will be transferred to the new system. It will be accessible to private sector diagnostic imaging clinics, so tests done in private sector clinics will be able to be uploaded onto the province-wide EHR system.

Radiologists in diagnostic imaging departments will be connected throughout the province, to enable all facilities to have access to radiologists’ expertise, and to enable radiologists to provide services through video or online connections (“tele-radiology”).
