On July 14, 2014 we sent a letter to Health Minister Dr. Terry Lake expressing our concern with the current approval process for sex reassignment surgery (SRS) for trans* British Columbians. The fact that trans* people’s sensitive medical information must be shared with Ministry staff before SRS is approved denies trans* people the agency to make decisions about their own bodies in private consultation with their physicians, as non-trans* British Columbians are able to do.
