BC Court of Appeal to Hear Arguments on Sex Workers’ Right to Challenge Prostitution Laws

Vancouver, B.C. – The BC Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA) will appear in the BC Court of Appeal on Thursday, January 21 and Friday, January 22, 2010, to intervene on behalf of Sex Workers United Against Violence (SWUAV). SWUAV is challenging the constitutionality of Canada’s laws against prostitution. SWAV is appealing a BC Supreme Court decision that they do not have legal standing to bring their case forward.
